Kerry Howard Caviston has his LMHC and Master of Science in Counseling from Fitchburg State University and a BA in Psychology form Amherst College. His professional work in the field began in 1982 working with individuals struggling with long term, serious mental health issues in a variety of settings such as inpatient, group homes, and as a DMH Case Manager. He has worked with clients who are encountering major mental illnesses, substance abuse issues, and who were in need of general support as well as assistance with pragmatic concerns. His approach is strength-based and goal oriented. He believes in the autonomy of the client and feels that patience, unconditional positive regard and acceptance are key factors in establishing a beneficial therapeutic alliance. He has special interests in food as medicine, general medical issues and utilizing entitlements and community resources.
